Real Madrid returns to Santiago Bernabeu

Finally the day came for which many Madrid fans were waiting so desperately. Santiago Bernaneu was getting renovated since Mar 2019 and this was a perfect opportunity for President Florentino Perez because of Covid fans were not allowed in the stadium in any league across the world. So he made a decision to start the project in the pandemic itself. This was a tough decision as because of Covid All the clubs were losing money and on top of that they are spending on restoration rather than spending on building a new strong team. But as we all know the brilliant business mind of Florentino Perez he decided to renovate the stadium instead of bringing on more players. For this he started a movement of reducing the salaries of all the employees and players as well in order to sustain the pandemic. All the staff and players welcomed the decision in the first year but after that some didn’t want to take the pay cut.

Whatever strategy He took it worked in his favor. Real Madrid won La Liga in Alfredo di Stefano Stadium and kept playing there, also they didn’t sign any big name and kept on selling players in order to generate more money. Even though Perez went for Mbappe in the last two week with 180 million euros but that was not successful and the club signed Camavinga instead for 30 million euros. Real Madrid has a stadium which is still in progress but at least they have made significant progress in achieving their goal of a new and better stadium. This new Stadium will generate much more revenue than the previous one. Stadium will have a retractable roof and the football pitch as well. so that it can be used for other concerts or any other events as well. It will a multi-purpose stadium.

Yesterday Madrid played their first game in this stadium against Celta Vigo and comfortably with a score line of 5-2. It was a thrilling match as Madrid came from 2-1 to win the match by 5-2. It was a perfect gift for all the Madrid fans and also the workers and all the staff who are responsible for renovation work of the stadium as they were also invited to watch the match.

Celta Vigo started brilliantly and scored within the first 5 minutes of the match through Santi Mina. It was a horrible defending by Madrid players and MIna got the ball inside the box which he converted comfortably. Madrid is lacking the focus and concentration in defence. THey are playing really good in attack but defence is the main worry for Carlo Ancelotti till now.

In the 24th minute Casemiro sent a diagonal cross towards the back post where Valverde volleyed it back to Benzema who shot on the half volley and into the back of the net. Real Madrid levelled the score 1-1. Brilliant work done by both Valverde and Benzema for this goal.

The score was not the same for a long time as another mistake by Madrid defenders allowed Franco Cervi in 3 on 2 situation with Madrid’s defence and he flicked against the post but was lucky enough to get the rebound and scored the goal. This was another warning sign for Madrid. The score was 2-1 and it remained the same till half time even though Real Madrid scored one in the 39th minute but it was ruled out due to offside.

After Half time Real Madrid increased their tempo and controlled the game brilliantly. Modrid started pulling the strings from midfield and Vinicius started running behind the defence. In the 46th  minute Miguel sent a great cross towards the 6 yard box where it met Benzema who scored a brilliant header past the goalkeeper. Great cross and amazing finish by Madrid PLayers. score again levelled at 2-2.

After playing some brilliant football finally it was time for a Vinicius Junior goal. Benzema sent a great pass behind the defender for Vinicous to run who reached to the ball and scored very calmly. He has started brilliantly this season; it was his 4th goal of the season and his best tally till now. He is looking like a different kind of player this season. making better decisions and finishing the goals as well. Match score 3-2.

After a couple of nice touches and turns taken by Luka Modric he stormed inside the box and tried a shot from outside of his boot which was saved by the goalkeeper but the rebound fell for the new signing of Real Madrid Eduardo Camavinga who tapped the ball inside the goal post. It was his debut goal for the club. match score 4-2.

VInicius continued to wreak havoc in the Celta defence line. He once again started running and showing skills when defenceder caught him and the referee pointed for the penalty. The penalty was taken by Benzema and  he completed his hat-trick for the day. A perfect night for a perfect occasion. 

Even though there was some fear of losing the match, Real Madrid bounced back and won the match for the fans. who were waiting for this day to come, to be back at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
